What is grid ?

     Grid is a structure made up of vertical and horizontal lines which is used as a guide line for lay-outing. Designers need grid system as a referencing lines for making their designs more aligned, focused and beautiful for the viewers. A good design will be always the combination of both grid system and lay-outing.
     Combination of number of vertical and horizontal lines make column. One column of a grid system in a work space is called a unit.

















What is layout?  

Layout is the sizing, spacing and aligning of contents in a particular work space. Designers composite and layout a design using grids.




Why designer need grid system ?
We need grid design because we do not know what a better solution to our design. Sometime like our newspaper need formal grid to print , then will show clear information to visitor .

Where grid is used ?
Grid is used on Wed base , Print base and Time base .
Wed base and time base are belong to online section . Print base is belong to offline section . For example : online section maybe likes tv , movie , phone , web , tablet are all of screen . Offline are magazine , newspaper , book , poster and t-shirt .

Advantage

Makes design simple and predictable to navigate
Helps to create good focus points
Viewers can grab the entire content in a design more faster.
Will be systematic

Disadvantage

Following grid and its rules always result in a common design style .
Designer cant explore there ideas out of box .
